Would this be presumptious and improper in trying for a job?

I'm in need of a new job. Although i bring a great worth ethic to the table and many people come just for me, it's hard to depend on restaurant money. Ive went from 40 hours a week to 18-20 maybe. During my time at this restaurant i've helped a schooll out which helps children with alot of disabilities. i've ran in, raised money for, donated food for, and through contacts was able to get thier 5k race for the children on the news for 10 minutes every hour for 12 hours. its been something ive been excited about about my question is would it be rude to give them my resume and express to them my need for a job and how if an opening for a secretary or anything pops up that id be great for the position. im hoping that even though i never thought id need another job that this hard work for charity might help me out in the end. if its okay to hand them my resume how would i go about giving it to them where i have a great shot at possibly getting a job? please help
